hi, i just played through this mini-realm. it’s exceptionally well written in terms of atmosphere and gameplay. but one thing i just couldn’t understand was the attack pattern mechanic. it may have been that you didn’t have the space for a full explanation (which is understandable), but i honestly hadn’t a clue what you intended the mechanic to play like. other than that (which it seemed to work well without) it was an excellent use of a half-hour. this knight of catarina commends you :)
Thank you for the kind words! Sorry for the confusion regarding attack patterns. The basic idea is that the direction an enemy is facing matters, which is a deviation from standard RUNE rules. So, the Woeful's third action hits everything around it (including diagonally), while the Scree's third action sweeps out in an "arc" in front of it, so standing behind it is still safe even if you're right next to it.
oh, that makes sense. so is it intended to provide more meaningful ways to dodge attacks aside from “move out of its range”? that’s a really cool idea, i’ll have to replay the mini-realm and use that.
